Our preschool sends home a recipe for cooked play-dough and it's really easy too. I think it may be your recipe with the salt in it.
Did you know that you can use packets of Kool-Aid for coloring? The color doesn't come out really dark, but the play-dough smells SO yummy when you use it. :D
