Same drawer: same mess

I've organized it probably once since my last post about our kitchen junk drawer, I promise! It just doesn't stay neat for very long. I'll probably need to re-do it again in a few weeks but it sure was fun to purge and make neat.

Now, onto more important things.....

Mud face

We have a mud hole in our backyard. When the water sprinkler is turned on, the hole gets muddier and muddier. Then, the mud pies are made. Next, they are thrown. It's loads of fun.

The Village Church free download KIDS

The Village Church, where Matt Chandler is the pastor, has just released a five song album for kids. It's free, too! My van is so happy to have something new in the CD player (and my ears are, too!).

The Prodigal Daughter

I love anything sung my Sovereign Grace. Enjoy!

You held out Your arms, I walked away
Insolent, I spurned Your face
Squandering the gifts You gave to me
Holding close forbidden things
Destitute, a rebel still, a fool in all my pride
The world I once enjoyed is death to me
No joy, no hope, no life

Where now are the friends that I had bought
Gone with every penny lost
What hope could there be for such as I
Sold out to a world of lies
Oh to see Your face again, it seems so distant now
Could it be that You would take me back
A servant in Your house

You held out Your arms, I see them still
You never left, You never will
Running to embrace me, now I know
Your cords of love will always hold
Mercy’s robe, a ring of grace
Such favor undeserved
You sing over me and celebrate
The rebel now Your child

A new profession?

For you, Loran

Ok, Loran....I'm laughing so hard right now. This is dedicated to YOU, my friend. You are a rock dude and I enjoyed our "church music" conversations when we would practice each Sunday morning.

A La Carte

Circa EARLY vs Circa LATE pictures. Hilarious!

Amazing stories of survival in the flooding of Nashville, TN.

Planning ahead in preparation for the Lord's Day. I need this list taped to my head each Saturday as a reminder.

All swoll up

Luke came home with a laminated card from school that read:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

My mom is the greatest because she tucks me in my bed, takes me to get my teeth cleaned, and she takes me swimming.

Love,
Luke

My heart is all swoll up.

T'ball season is almost over which means tennis is about to begin

An evening with the Worleys

Oh, an evening with Allison and Kelsey is nothing but TOTAL fun! Not to mention combining their personalities with Cinco De Mayo....P.A.R.T.Y! We joined the silly couple for dinner and a short concert last night - it was a time filled with outrageous laughter, dancing, jokes, Frisbee (in front of the concert hall!), Mexican food, music, and memories.

This is Allison after.....

...she screamed when seeing this roach.

This is Allison talking to the little troll that lives in the city drain (see how Luke follows her lead? Help us!).

Yeah, this is Allison acting the fool. She cracks me up. I think it's because we are so much alike, except for the ten year age difference thingy.

Allison taught my kids how to play leapfrog.
A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

The guys sat and watched our silliness. Oh, but you should have watched these two play Frisbee. Impressive....right, Kelsey? Oh wait, you hit my kid in the head with that orange disc, didn't you?

We love you both, Kelsey and Allison! Your friendship is amazing and [I] am so thankful I have a friend (who is not moving out of town) with whom I can be real, crazy, and dorky!

Oh yeah, one more funny thing happened last night. It's very common to hear live music in the evenings on the main street of uptown Columbus. There are a variety of restaurants and people, especially since the school of music at CSU is located uptown as well as some housing for the students. While waiting for our table at The Cantina Andrew spotted one of the singers setting up his stool, mic stand, and guitar. I watched him walk to the singer and then ask, "Hey, Sir. Can you play "Wheels on the Bus"? The guy (singer) smiled real big and just said, "Maybe!". At that moment, we were called for our table and our giggles were slowly minimized.

As we left the restaurant, we had to walk past the singer to get to our next destination. He spotted us coming down the sidewalk and quickly began playing "Wheels on the Bus"! We all cracked up laughing....and so did the other 30 or so people who were listening as they ate outside (or maybe they were nervously laughing - ummmm, who told the singer to play kids' music?).

Teacher Appreciation gifts

I like to make stuff. If you come to my house you'll find lots of neat little piles of various projects that I'm working on. This week is "Teacher Appreciation Week" nationwide so I've been busy making gifts for the teachers at our school. Like Becky, I desire to spend zero to VERY LITTLE on my projects and, rather, just use what I have on hand. I've been hoarding watercolor paper since I love to paint with that medium.

Here's what I did:

1. took postcard size of watercolor paper
2. painted vertical stripes of colors & let dry
3. painted teacher's first initial
4. wrote rest of teacher's name & scripture verse (I chose Psalm 63:3)
5. mounted postcard on black cardstock
6. Again, mounted bordered postcard on complimenting solid color cardstock
7. framed in simple 5x7 black frame that can be mounted or stood.

I've still got eight more to make by Thursday. No Facebook for me (
maybe).

Tonight's prayer

Andrew is usually so worn out by family worship time in the evening that his prayers are often mumbled and short. But....

Tonight, he prayed with great focus and clarity,
"Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for my family, for the day you've given us together, for the Bible, and for you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

My sweet boy.

Working on my still life

No, this post has nothin' to do with anything spiritual (...being still? Me?). In class, we were given homework to practice taking some still life pictures and then adding our personal edit. This is the shot I'm gonna turn in.

Thanks, Amelia, for letting me photograph your wheels!

My town: Columbus, GA

I love living in Columbus. I often wonder if we'll spend the rest of our lives here or if God will move us on one day. I wonder if my children will have the joy of living here throughout their childhood and adolescence, graduate, and then bring their families to our house for long visits.

I look forward to the days that God has us planted here in Columbus. It's my home....my town.

Thanks to my friend, Betty Smartt Carter, for her book, Home Is Always the Place You Just Left. It was the book that I held close when we left our last home in Alabama to move to Columbus.

Young-Me-Now

Ok, this website, Young-Me-Now, has got me giggling out loud in a room all by myself. Basically, people have found pictures of themselves as a young baby/child and then recreated the photo in their adult state. Hilarious!
