50 Worst Inventions of all time

50 Worst Inventions of all time: Come on...I love my Crocs! They are so versatile. Who cares that they aren't the prettiest shoe in the world? I can wear them to the pool where they can get wet, to the beach where they can get sandy, to the parade on the hot asphalt, and around the house so I don't pick up crumbs on my bare feet.

Among other worst inventions listed: The Segway, New Coke, Vibrating belt, and WOW potato chips.

PCB vacation

I've already posted a few pictures on Facebook but I wanted to share about our vacation in more detail on this blog.

This was our resort. Lots of fun people to watch....created lots of questions from my children's minds. Interesting and entertaining.

Andrew is a fish in the pool, although he prefers the ocean.

Luke wanted very little to do with the ocean
and even asked if he could sleep the night away in the pool.

Abigail loved the hot tub!

The vertical drop from our balcony on the 11th floor.

The view from our room.

Mitch regretted taking the kids on this ride.
He wishes I had chaperoned instead.
Let's just say his stomach doesn't do well
when going 'round and 'round in fast circles.

Nothing like a hamburger from FIVE GUYS.
Awesome!

Abigail was hot and tired but they enjoyed
finishing an 18 hole round of miniature golf.
Luke even got a hole-in-one!

Tee time!

Kindergarten is complete!

Andrew graduated from kindergarten last week. He's now officially calling himself a first grader, which he is! Parents say it to themselves all the time but it's true....."I really can't believe how fast he is growing up."

It's all about you, sister

They were just precious! So easy to photograph and a delight to spend time with as we tip-toe'd around the Riverwalk here in Columbus. Love these girls!

No more school

Tomorrow is her last day of school.
Tomorrow is the last day of having one of my children
at the school we've loved for so long.
Tomorrow, she will celebrate her teachers and friends.
Tomorrow, she will wave "bye" to her old school.
Tomorrow I might cry.

A note from his sister

There's no date on it but Mitch and I found this note in an old box when purging through things last week. Valerie, my husband's sister, is such a good friend to me. I love her and couldn't help laughing when I read this note she wrote to Mitch many many many years ago when they were still living at home as teens. Seems my husband was being mean to his little sis. They've since forgiven each other.

I won the grand prize!

One of my favorite blogs, Blissfully Domestic, had a giveaway last week. Guess what. I won it!
The Grand Prize (value $199.96) included:
Kodak digital camera, 12 megapixels with video
Babies Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD
Safety First Healthcare basic kit
TastyBaby Eco Bag (which contains one box each of: Tasty Baby Organic fruit snacks, Organic Cereal Bars, and Organic Infant Cereal)

So, my new camera is on the charger getting ready for our beach trip tomorrow. I adore my Canon Rebel XTi (thanks, Holly) but it's a little much sometimes to carry around EVERYWHERE!

I mean, my purse, my camera bag, the baseball gloves, etc....a pocket camera is great for this mom. What a fantastic belated Mother's Day gift, and all I had to do was leave a comment. And my new little booger captures video, too! Now I can finally show off my little munchkins on my blog in live action. Time to toss those Hi8 tapes.

Thanks, Blissfully Domestic!

Swagger Wagon

Did you know that we own a Swagger Wagon? Yeah, this is how Mitch and I roll.....

Toyota originally asked us to be the featured couple in the video but we turned down the job -
where our kids at?

Take that, Honda Odyssey!

My green thing for the day

You know, Coralie is a much better writer of words than I am, so I'm going to defer to her blog in telling the story that goes along with these photos.

Can you tell it's almost midnight and I am lazy?

Wordless Wednesday

Amphibian love

My boys are not the only ones in this family that have a love for the wonder of all things nature. We ventured outside this afternoon for a water balloon fight but our start time was delayed due to the capture of a friendly frog (toad, perhaps?).

No - my boys were not the first to see it.....my daughter spotted it and went straight in with her death grip. I reminded her to be gentle - and she was - but that poor frog was carried around our yard for almost two hours. Before heading back inside, she expressed her disappointment at my request for her to put Mr. Frog back in the bushes where he lives. She even prayed for the amphibian tonight.

I'm just thankful for soap and hand sanitizer.

Brooke Fraser: C.S. Lewis Song

If I find in myself desires nothing in this world can satisfy,
I can only conclude that I was not made for here
If the flesh that I fight is at best only light and momentary,
then of course I'll feel nude when to where I'm destined I'm compared

[CHORUS]
Speak to me in the light of the dawn
Mercy comes with the morning
I will sigh and with all creation groan as I wait for hope to come for me

Am I lost or just less found? On the straight or on the roundabout of the wrong way?
is this a soul that stirs in me, is it breaking free, wanting to come alive?
'Cos my comfort would prefer for me to be numb
An avoid the impending birth of who I was born to become

[BRIDGE]
For we, we are not long here
Our time is but a breath, so we better breathe it
And I, I was made to live, I was made to love, I was made to know you
Hope is coming for me
Hope, He's coming

Lots of grumbling going on.....

The Pharisees grumbled....a lot! Abigail has been reading about the Pharisees in her two year old Sunday School class, verses such as these:

Luke 5:30
And the Pharisees and their scribes
grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

Luke 15:2
And the Pharisees and the scribes
grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Tonight, I asked Abigail to remind me:

ME: "Abigail, who grumbled a lot that you've been learning about in the Bible?"

ABIGAIL: "The Ferris Wheels!"

The end of this season

T'ball has ended and we sure are proud of our boys!

Same drawer: same mess

I've organized it probably once since my last post about our kitchen junk drawer, I promise! It just doesn't stay neat for very long. I'll probably need to re-do it again in a few weeks but it sure was fun to purge and make neat.

Now, onto more important things.....

BEFORE

A typical Saturday morning

Mud face

We have a mud hole in our backyard. When the water sprinkler is turned on, the hole gets muddier and muddier. Then, the mud pies are made. Next, they are thrown. It's loads of fun.

The Village Church free download KIDS

The Village Church, where Matt Chandler is the pastor, has just released a five song album for kids. It's free, too! My van is so happy to have something new in the CD player (and my ears are, too!).

The Prodigal Daughter

I love anything sung my Sovereign Grace. Enjoy!

You held out Your arms, I walked away
Insolent, I spurned Your face
Squandering the gifts You gave to me
Holding close forbidden things
Destitute, a rebel still, a fool in all my pride
The world I once enjoyed is death to me
No joy, no hope, no life

Where now are the friends that I had bought
Gone with every penny lost
What hope could there be for such as I
Sold out to a world of lies
Oh to see Your face again, it seems so distant now
Could it be that You would take me back
A servant in Your house

You held out Your arms, I see them still
You never left, You never will
Running to embrace me, now I know
Your cords of love will always hold
Mercy’s robe, a ring of grace
Such favor undeserved
You sing over me and celebrate
The rebel now Your child

A new profession?

Go to Coralie's blog to read about how her pastor rescued her and her children from going batty.

For you, Loran

Ok, Loran....I'm laughing so hard right now. This is dedicated to YOU, my friend. You are a rock dude and I enjoyed our "church music" conversations when we would practice each Sunday morning.

"Sunday's Coming" Movie Trailer from North Point Media on Vimeo.

A La Carte

Circa EARLY vs Circa LATE pictures. Hilarious!

Amazing stories of survival in the flooding of Nashville, TN.

Planning ahead in preparation for the Lord's Day. I need this list taped to my head each Saturday as a reminder.

You really should read his blog

I mean it....his words and stories amazing.
Amazing because he praises God!
Such heart, such honesty, such authenticity.

All swoll up

Luke came home with a laminated card from school that read:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

My mom is the greatest because she tucks me in my bed, takes me to get my teeth cleaned, and she takes me swimming.

Love,
Luke

My heart is all swoll up.

T'ball season is almost over which means tennis is about to begin
